Singapore, Singapore

Sea Date March 23, 2024

Singapore,  Singapore It is a city state. Absolutely fascinating place. A powerhouse financial center, booming economy,  no homeless, great healthcare and schools. Basically a one party democracy. Racist treatment of people, negative comments about religion, litter, chewing gum all banned. Subsidized housing buildings require every ethnicity and religion live together so there will be understanding and respect.

Plus it is so beautiful!

We started the day at Gardens of the Bay near the cruise terminal then headed to Marina Bay complex. Whooshed up to SkyTower for panoramic views.

Our guide told customers he believes his country is land of the free and home of the brave. Because people are free to send their children to school without fear of a shooting,  free to let their daughters walk alone at night with no fear they will be attacked and free to walk any neighborhood any time with no fear. And brave because they don't need to carry guns withcthem to go out.

Always interesting to hear different world views.

Lunch at the  hawkers (food court). Walk around Little India. Not all that. Walk through Malay (Muslim) area. Quite interesting especially during Ramadan. It is a fasting time and there were food kiosks everywhere.  Our guide said they buy now to be ready for sunset. Then Chinatown for dim sum dinner
