Sea Days

On our way to Maputo.  Those of you who followed my Grand Africa adventure will be shocked (I was) by my deja vu experience.

As you may remember,  on the way to Maputo my bug bite got infected,  antibiotics were not working, and then I got covid. Doctors wouldn't see me. Infection raged. Finally Jim showed them a picture of my infection.  They were in my room in 5 minutes and doing surgery within 30 minutes.

When I got home, I went to an urgent care doctor,  my dermatologist 3 times and my primary care several times. I kept showing them that it was swollen, red, had black dots and still slightly painful.  Every doctor said, no problem.  It was fine. I gave up asking.

Today that sore burst open. Back to medical office! Doctor said it was infected,  checked my white blood count and put me on two doses of antibiotics.  I need to return in 2 days. If it is getting worse she is suggesting I may need to get off in Cape Town for more intense treatment not available on the ship. She said after Cape Town she would not feel comfortable advising me to get off in any west Africa country for treatment.  I have a safari scheduled in 3 days!

She is optimistic that drugs will keep it under control until USA.

Painful.

Can't believe it is happening in the same exact part of the world as in 2022. And all my visits to American doctors did not resolve this weird condition.

Broadway lectures. Masquerade Party.

South African history.

Good news! I saw the doctor at 4pm. She cleared me to head out on safari. Of course, traveling with drugs, antiseptic cloths, gauze, pads, and tape. Nurse Jim will be busy! Off on another adventure.

Celebrating at Seaview Bar.

Shades of Africa tonight.
