Tokyo, Japan Day 2

 Sea Date February 29, 2024

Happy Leap Year!

I love Tokyo! I love Japan!

The people here are rule followers!  Here, I would fit perfectly.  Not be the uptight rule follower, as I am viewed in the US.  When the walk light is red, there may be 100 or so people waiting to cross, not a car in sight, but not a toe will go in that street until the walk light is green. The people here are so polite. They respect order and cleanliness.  I love New York but it is an embarrassment when compared to Tokyo. Tokyo is spotless. You would need to search to find trash. I could get anywhere without needing to drive (which I hate).  I became an expert on the subways/trains. The city is fabulous for English speaking tourists. Signage is everywhere, very clear. Almost every sign, menu, museum description, etc., is in Japanese and English!

Today - no tour scheduled.  We headed out on our own.  I had an app and Jim had the subway map.  A little bump in the road at the beginning. We started at a station but it was a train station not a subway,  They look alike but pricing and tickets are different. Ok, we've got that now - we are off.  One train and 3 subways, 8 turnstiles requiring tickets and we arrive at the National Museum.  The older I get, the more I appreciate art - not knowing or understanding but appreciated.  I enjoyed our hour and a half there.  Off to the Shibuya Crossing - Times Square of Tokyo.  The Crossing is considered the busiest passenger street crossing in the world.  We meet up with Kevin, Monica and Karen and wander around Shibuya finding a fabulous lunch spot.

Then many more subway rides to see the main train station - Tokyo Station, known for its architecture.

Two different subway systems (multiple lines), a train ride and a shuttle bus back to the ship! Dinner in the Lido. The show was Comedian/Ventriloquist Mike Robinson.

Look at that beautiful subway car!
