Off to Xian
Sea Date March 8, 2024
Today Martin picked us up at the port and delivered us to the airport. He helped to security and then gave us excellent directions to find our gate. Excellent signage so we had no problems.
Jenny met us in Xian. First stop a dumpling cooking class at the home of one of her associates. We helped make dumplings, then were then cooked and served to us along with many other delicious dishes. A wonderful home cooked meal.
Off to the Muslim Quarter. In the 1400s and 1500s, Muslim traders operated in Shanghai and traded their goods along the silk road. Many of the male Muslims married Chinese women and their descendants have the right to live in this area.
Check in to our hotel - Eastern House Boutique Hotel. Quite nice.
We headed out with Monica and Kevin to walk Bar Street. A delightful evening for early March. A little cool but not cold. The weather is similar to Baltimore so that is surprisingly pleasant.
Collapse into bed.
