Manzanillo, Mexico

Image
Sea Date, January 29, 2024 Manzanillo is the "Sailfish Capital of the World", the busiest and biggest port in Mexico and has the beach where the famous 10 Bo Derek scene was filmed. We arrived too late in the day for a sailfishing trip. Some you win, some you lose.  Today, I was a loser in the excursion I selected.  As many of you know, I spend way too much time researching each country and each port. Choosing how to spend the day is always excruciating. But I am usually happy with the choices I make.  Not so today. We spent 5 1/2 hours on a bus for 1 3/4 hours of sightseeing.  Ah well.  I had decided to leave the coast and go into the highlands of Mexico, returning in time to the old villages.  The tour left at noon and according to the description we would tour and then stop for a heavy snack at 5 PM.  We ate a big lunch. As soon as the bus pulled away, our guide announces our first stop will be at the restaurant.  A 2 hour drive later we stop to eat. Not hungry but very d

Sea Day

Sea Date, January 28, 2024 Just too sad to post much.  Chiefs 17 - Ravens 10. Lectures in the morning. Then, I spent the day wandering the ship in Raven's gear.  In the afternoon we gathered in the Gallery Bar with fellow football fans to cheer on the Ravens.  Tough ending to a great season.

Sea Day

Sea Date January 27, 2024 Woke up to seabirds soaring all around the ship.  Captain Frank explained they liked the wind created by the ship. Lectures in the morning. Ice cream social on lido.  Mass in the Hudson Room.  Check out the ceiling.  Mom and Dad would have loved that - Godliness, Cleanliness, Card Playing.  Dinner in Canaletto with Joel and Sharon.  Cabaret Singer and comedienne - Michelle Montuori - on Main Stage.                                                                       GO RAVENS!

Merry Christmas

Not sure how this moved from December to here.   A short but sweet visit to Baltimore for the holidays. We started off with a family sing along with the dueling pianos at BC Brewery.  Then Stella and I made Christmas ornaments for family and friends.  She and Pops baked sugar cookies.  Although she did inform me,  "CiCi, I am not an elf!" A lovely holiday tradition continued - Faber Christmas party, broken ankle and all. Christmas Mass at the Cow Palace with Steve and Pam was an experience.  The music was heavenly. Christmas day was fun for all.  Jim fed us all very well.
